Field Technician

Job Summary:

This position’s primary focus will be the commissioning, Site Acceptance Testing, repair and maintenance of BlueNova batteries (both LV, HV, iESS and turnkey products) at customer sites, both locally and internationally. This will include, but not limited to the basic setup, commissioning, fault-finding, repairs and maintenance on batteries which can include systems with various inverters, peripheral equipment, and EMS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repair and maintenance of BlueNova batteries, including logging faults and problems for continued improved products (applicable to all product ranges).
  • Diagnostics and resolutions to ensure customer
  • Forensic investigation into failures, understanding root causes and establishing control measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Issue diagnostics and resolution, ensuring high quality and timely reporting to the team and customer.
  • Technical analysis of client systems and battery performance to troubleshoot, fault-find and to define battery valuation (cycles and age).
  • Coordinate, communicate and liaise on site visits with
  • Basic factory battery assessments and
  • Assistance with Support admin, by providing input into parts required and used, stock management, financial tracking and management, and ensuring accurate and timeous customer feedback.
  • Telephonic and virtual support to BlueNova customers.
  • Commissioning of battery systems on site (SAT included), including containerized solutions with inverters (various) as well as EMS (where applicable).

  • Generate estimates, Sales Orders and assist with invoicing for Support services and correspond with the relating customers.
  • Assist with SLA administration
  • Assist with admin relating to service agent/EPC/Installer
  • Assist with field service planning and scheduling and coordination with
  • Management of parts issued to technicians and customers, as well as parts
  • Liaise with internal and external logistics teams to arrange transportation as and when
  • Warranty validity checks and confirmation, as well as warranty claims by customers and warranty claims from suppliers.
  • Thorough use of- and documenting all works on the Support ticketing system, with acceptable first response- and ticket resolution time as per set out KPI

 

Job Requirements:

  • Technical Diploma/Certificate or BTech– Electrical
  • Electrician/Redseal/Wireman’s license and PV GreenCard will be beneficial
  • At least 3-5 years relevant technical experience
  • Fundamentals of DC- and AC power
  • Renewable systems knowledge
  • Technical knowledge about products
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Proficient in MS Office packages
  • High level of system knowledge and understanding for effective support and maintenance functions
